The wide variety in the type and extent of services required, together with the preferences of our clients as to the basis of charge, are taken into account when quoting. The fee structure is therefore flexible, ranging from simple time charge to performance related fees. As a guide, the options here may be available.
Ad-Hoc Advice & Assistance in Contractual and Legal Matters
This service is normally carried out on a time charge basis in view of the difficulty of defining the input required in advance. Charges for technical staff reflect the experience of the personnel and the nature of the service. Rates are inclusive of overhead and secretarial costs and also include support and supervision by the Directors. Work carried out specifically by Directors is charged at appropriate rates. The alternative of a retainer to provide advice generally to a client can also be considered.
Commercial Management of Projects
Management of projects can be undertaken on a time charge basis. Other alternatives include payment of an agreed percentage of revenue received by the client for the project, through monthly and final payments. Since fees are related to payments received, this method can be seen as self-financing. The charge will reflect the experience of the personnel, the circumstances of the project, and the facilities provided by the client. Separate fee scales are normally negotiated to deal with claims arising on the project.
Claim Prosecution and Defence
A variety of fee structures may be available for services in prosecution or defence of contractual claims, including:
- Percentage(s) of recovery or of liability avoided, subject to an initial nominal lump sum advance
- Low time charge plus reduced percentage of recovery or liability avoided
